# SSL-Certificate

### What is an SSL-Certificate?

An SSL-certificate is a digital certificate that authenticates a website’s identity and enables encrypted communication between the website and its visitors. It ensures that data transferred - like passwords, credit cards, numbers, or personal information - is secure and protected from tampering.

It helps keeping your online data private and verifies if the website is trustworthy.

### My website and SSL-security

Normally, all websites hosted on the MG WebDev network are equipped with an SSL-certificate. If you experience any issues or have notices your SSL-certificate has expired, please contact support.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Websites that are not hosted by us aren't equipped with an SSL-certificate.
